Greetings!

We, at Qupido Travel believe that love isn’t random and magic isn’t imaginary. It’s all just very well planned.

Well planned travel has the ability to be a transformative experience. Our passion is to create itineraries that make you fall in love with life once again. We help you escape from the daily grind, experience something powerful and totally different and give your brain the chance to shift gear.

Our tours are all unique, one-of-a-kind experiences. We offer you VIP treatment without the price tag.  We want to hear oohs and aahs and laughter every day. And when you come back from your holiday, we want you to write to us, let us what we’ve done great, what we can do to make it all perfect.

Our favorite looong travel quote:

“We travel, initially, to lose ourselves; and we travel, next to find ourselves. We travel to open our hearts and eyes and learn more about the world than our newspapers will accommodate. We travel to bring what little we can, in our ignorance and knowledge, to those parts of the globe whose riches are differently dispersed. And we travel, in essence, to become young fools again- to slow time down and get taken in, and fall in love once more.” ― Pico Iyer

Why Qupido Travel?

Indeed, why Qupido Travel and not Run away travel or Escape Travel?

In Roman mythology, Cupid (Latin Cupīdō) – god of desire, love, attraction and affection was the son of Venus – goddess of love. Since Bhutan has captured our hearts we felt Qupido suited our travel company perfectly!

After all, we are on a mission to make people fall in love with new places, beautiful sunrises, new foods, different cultures and brand new adventures.

We know that Bhutan will strike an arrow into your heart too. How could it not?

Few locals, fewer tourists, delicious food, lovely people, unique culture, no pollution, no traffic lights, Bhutan is the only country that measures its progress through Gross Domestic Happiness not through the economic equivalent: Gross Domestic Product.

It’s a tiny Himalayan kingdom full of mystery, unexpected beauty and wonder.

The most expensive wild mushroom in the world grows here, the national animal, the docile Takin looks like a crazy scientific experiment and, by the way, it is good luck to kiss one, the traditional outfits are not just for special occasions but are worn all the time, phalluses are good luck and can be seen everywhere, a rare fungus, cordyceps, is worth more than gold, people don’t have family names, the rice is red, the pigs get high on marijuana, the locals don’t know their birth dates, and the list goes on and on…

And, have we mentioned that Bhutan is home to the world’s tallest unclimb mountain? Why? Because the locals believe the peaks are home to protective spirits that may be disturbed by these kinds of adventurous activities.

As many others, you too will love Bhutan and you’ll want to come back again. Because Bhutan is not like any other country in the world. Our tours to Bhutan are as unique as the country itself.

Meet the Crew

We are a travel business company based in Melbourne, Australia. Our team is at work 365 days a year ensuring  everything runs flawlessly, allowing everyone to just enjoy themselves knowing everything behind the scenes is taken care of.

Meet the happy guys who rule the roost:

Carol Vorvain

An author, speaker and a longtime travel writer, Carol loves goats (shh), likes piña coladas and gettin’ caught in the rain. Of course, only with an umbrella. She works with Druk Air and Bhutan Airlines. In her past life she was a less happy property lawyer and a mediator.  She is our Chief Everything Officer and, when running the tours, she demands perfection. Watch out!

Bogdan Birghilescu

An Oracle consultant for The Australian Department of Justice, he is our well versed Head of Engineering. He loves to travel and has lived and worked in Canada, United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Unites States, UK and Australia. When something goes wrong, we blame him. As a true warrior, he doesn’t mind, he just can’t sleep until everything runs smooth again. Works for us!

Tshering Dhendup & our happy Bhutanese staff

Mr Dhendup is our Bhutan Travel Expert. An entrepreneur at heart, with more than 20 years experience in the travel industry under his belt, he is the one leading our Bhutanese team. He has been guiding since 1994 and was trained by Austria Tourism Board. He was featured in a number of TV travel show such as NCRV (Netherlands), Denmark TV and Korean TV. He is the leader of one of the biggest tourism companies in Bhutan so we feel truly lucky for him to accept to also partner with us. A remarkable archer, Tshering is able to hit the bull-eye 7 out of 8 times at 130 metres.

Where would we be without him? Definitely not in this business. And trust us, you would miss us…

Other figures worth mentioning:

Mr and Mrs Possom Jr  in charge with smelling, sorry eating the roses.

Mrs and Mr Kanga-roo Sr in charge with… hopping non stopping. It’s a long way to Bhutan.

Yeah, yeah, yeah, we are trying to make funny jokes. The truth is only Mr Koala has the proper koalafications. Unfortunately though, he is asleep most of the time… Luckily, we are always available.

Do you have questions? We have answers. So, contact us. Let’s chat about your trip to Bhutan.
